AGM, EGM & Xmas Party

ABFNSW will hold an EGM & its AGM on 18th December followed by Xmas drinks. All Members, Friends and supporters are encouraged to attend and to stay afterwards and enjoy some Xmas cheer.

The EGM is being held to allow for change to the Constitution of the ABF.

Why Change the Constitution.
The current ABF NSW constitution appears to have been adopted prior to the
reforms to the Associations Incorporation Act 2009 and various recent
amendments.
The major outcome of the 2009 act was to modernise and streamline old
constitutions as well introduce three tiers of reporting depending on the size of
the annual turnover and/or assets of the association.
The revised draft constitution is an opportunity bring the primary governance
document of the ABF in line with current legislation and improve a number of
operational matters including the use of electronic communications to members
such as emails and clarifications around membership.
ABF has had a long relationship with MEAA. Currently everyone who is a financial
member of the Equity section of MEAA is also a member of ABF NSW. This creates
a number of issues for ABF as it is required to maintain a list of its members – but
without being able to do so. The revised constitution clarifies membership to those
who wish to support the aims of the association and pay a separate membership
fee. In return there will be members benefits such as access to discount tickets and
special events. By continuing to support members of the entertainment profession
ABF will continue its strong connections and relationship with MEAA.
The change in membership won’t change or affect anyone’s eligibility to receive
support from ABF NSW provided they meet the stated criteria for each of
our grant programs.

A draft version of the revised Constitution can be found by opening Constitution in About Us.
