A STITCH IN TIME - CHARITY PREVIEW SCREENING

A STITCH IN TIME - CHARITY PREVIEW SCREENING AT EVENT CINEMAS

Starring Maggie Blinco • Glenn Shorrock • Belinda Giblin • Hoa Xuande
& John Gregg in his last movie.

Director, writer and producer Sasha Haddon has generously donated a special screening of his film 'A Stitch In Time' to support Actors Benevolent Fund and The Motion Picture Industry Benevolent Society and Australian Cinema Pioneers.

'A Stitch in Time' is a heartwarming story about a former dressmaker played by Maggie Blinco, who reinvents herself after befriending a young Chinese fashion designer Hamish, Hoa Xuande, who inspires her to follow her dream. A joyful moving journey that beautifully celebrates age, culture, and the diversity of modern Australian life.

Low budget but punching way above its weight in quality, the DOP was film industry legend Don McAlpine who was also a co producer. Acclaimed director Bruce Beresford declared that "It would be acclaimed in international film festivals” and Kevin Jackson wrote "It touches so many resonant buttons of our contemporary social and political dialogues"

The screening will honour the long and distinguished acting career of  the late John Gregg who was also Chair of ABF from 2013 to 2019.

With a first class cast headed by veteran actor Maggie Blinco, the screening of 'A Stitch In Time' presents a chance to return to seeing films on the big screen in a comfortable cinema.

This is the first time the ABF has combined with the two cinema organisations to raise funds for both the live and screen industry members. There is considerable cross over amongst our actors and creatives who work in theatres as well as in film and television productions. Through combining our efforts, both charities are able to reach many arts workers who may not know of the areas of assistance available to them in times of adversity such as during the Covid pandemic. It is also a great opportunity to celebrate the return to enjoying entertainment sitting side by side in a cinema or theatre.
